Sanctuary (Definition paragraph)

Sanctuary is a word that can mean quite a few things, but to me, the word itself is warm and inviting. Its a place where its safe, a place where anything can go to get away from eveything and anything. To some its a holy ground that protects from demons. To others it can be as simple as there own mind. The mind is anyones final defence against the world, due to the fact that whatever they think will be kept private. Sanctuary is the embodiment of hope and freedom.

Bad Holiday Gifts (illustration blog)

During holidays, many gifts are exchanged between many families. These holidays can also consist of special occasions like birthdays and house warming parties. Some of the gifts given during these days can be really good or just down right terrible. One experience I had with gifts was when I got a sweater that was the exact same sweater I had gotten ealier that day. I had recieved the same sweater from two people. It was a nice gesture, but alas, I had gotten two terrible sweaters. The were not compfy. Some people may try to give people gifts that they themselves would use, knowing that the person they are giving it to will never use it. I have never had this happen to me, but I have had some bad gifts given to me in the past. I even gave some people some bad gifts.

Descriptive Paragraph: My house

My home is located in the middle of the woods. There are sticky, pine trees covered in sap all around the house, so when pulling into my driveway it seems as if it leads to nowhere, but then suddenly turns right to the front of my house. The house is an old cabin filled with lots of dust, and has a musty, old-style taste to it. It was built by a man who actually died in the bath tub. Three dogs run amuck around the house and usually leave trash in the yard. The yard is filled with deep holes, nasty swamp water, and lots of annoying tree roots. My step father is a pack rat, which doesn't help at all. There are piles of junk, scrap and metal all over. Its trashy, but the house is nice and peacefully quiet since theres noone around. Overall I love home.

Reflective Paragraph: Dirt Ball

The people who have glasses or contacts don't always get them naturally. Some people may encounter some unfortunite event that may cause them injury and require them to get visual guidance afterwards. I have had such an incident occur when I was fourteen. My family used to live in a trailer park within a little town called Neillsville. There weren't many trailers in the park, but there were enough to actually be one. Our trailer was the more modernized and house-like trailer in the park. At the exit of the park there was a heating and cooling building for a small business. The company was expanding their parking lot and aquired a mound of dirt in their back yard. This is where the fun stuff happened. Almost everyday my friend James would come over to hang out and play. James was more of a rough and tumble type of guy who would try and act tough where ever he was. On one of the days that the company was working, James, my little five year old brother, Trenton, and I went over to the mound of dirt and started throwing balls of dirt at eachother. My brother, however; did not participate in the little game and preceeded to build a dirt castle. After an hour or so I decided I wanted to head back home, but as I turned to leave, a dirt ball that James threw hit me in the eye. Within the same hour I was in the hospital having eye surgery. After that I had to wear an eye patch for a few months and became known as "Shorts the Pirate." When I finally got the patch removed I had to wear glasses to fix my vision. This is how a little game ruined my vision and taught me to always think before I do something. I also learned not to turn my back to my friends, especially if they're throwing something at me.
